There’s nothing quite like the magic of a wood-powered hot tub, but besides the romance, our choice of wood-fired reflects the off-grid ethos of our glamping site. With no electricity, our pods and lodges give you a chance to unplug from the modern world, stop scrolling, and reconnect with nature.
Situated high above the Cheddar Gorge, we have some of the best views in the UK. The area is teeming with wildlife – and of course, it’s also well-populated with our own sheep and cattle.
only Burning stoves, candles and oil lamps!
We’re very aware, however, that what we offer is not for everyone. If you want electric lights, Wi-Fi, a TV and all the other mod cons, don’t choose us. Our pods and lodges are beautifully equipped, but with wood burning stoves rather than electric heaters, and candles and oil lamps instead of light bulbs.
We always try to be very clear about what we offer so that there are no false expectations – and one of the things we love is when people tell us that the experience of staying at Warren Farm far exceeded their expectations.
They love getting back to their roots and back to the land, cooking on the stove and sitting by a crackling fire as the evening draws in. A stay with us helps you slip back into a simpler, less stressful way of life. It’s a chance to reboot and recharge.
We’re pleased to say we have a very high percentage of return bookings.
We got into glamping as a way to diversify our business, and we quickly discovered how much we love meeting our guests. We get people from many different walks of life, and that’s hugely refreshing: we tend to meet like-minded people through our work or our family, whereas our glamping business reminds us that there’s a whole world of people out there with a range of different life views and experiences. It stops us becoming siloed in life.
It’s refreshing to meet people who want to know about what we do here on the farm and who challenge us with their questions, making us think about why we do things the way we do. These interactions bring a fresh perspective and sometimes inspire us to make changes.
We also love hearing about our guests’ life experiences and what they do for a job. Sometimes it makes us envious – other times it makes us glad to have the job we do!
For us, the glamping side of our business is all about people – and it’s lovely meeting people who are on holiday, because they want to have a good time. Our task is to make it as good as possible.
That means constantly working to create a special experience, which is why we decided to add a hot tub to Lime Kiln. You have to work for your soak, firing up the stove so that it heats the water, but take it from us: sitting amid warmth and steam while soaking up the gentle scent of woodsmoke and views of the Somerset countryside is all the reward you need.
If you want to try it for yourself, now is a good time to visit – there’s plenty happening on the farm as we come out of winter. Our cows have just had their positive pregnancy tests and last year’s calves have been weaned away from them and we’re getting ready for lambing.
Our honesty shop is always stocked with our home-reared meat, so you can cook some up on the stove in your pod or lodge. In fact, the shop has everything you need to cater during your stay, meaning that if you want to truly unplug and forget about the outside world, it’s easy to do that. Equally, if you want to explore there’s lots to see and do.
