Warren Farm joined the Feather Down Farms family in 2011 and in 2020 became the Featherdown Cheddar Gorge. We have 5 well appointed, luxury canvas lodges and 2 bespoke wooden lodges set in two and a half acres overlooking the world-famous Cheddar Gorge.
Each of our canvas lodges or wooden lodges has a ‘cosy feel’ to them that makes you relax into a slower, less stressful pace of life. Time to feel the grass beneath your feet or perhaps the soil between your fingers, to experience a truly dark night followed by a gentle dawn. Perhaps you’ll have a fire (inside or outside), toast marshmallows, tell stories, sing songs or just gaze at the stars. It’s a time for family, fun and friendships to grow.
From the start of the 2021 season, our prices now includes bath towels and bedlinen for all booked guests. This also includes the double bed being made up pre-arrival. The other beds can be made up for an additional charge, this can be ordered at the time of booking or by contacting us directly once the booking is made.
The field area is designed with families in mind, so it is a safe place for children to be able to explore and play. There is a well-equipped play area with wooden towers, swings, slides and two sand pits for younger children. There is also a selection of indoor and outdoor games that can be borrowed. We do at certain times of the year allow well behaved dogs to stay with their families, subject to our terms and conditions (more details on the bookings page).
We’re very aware of the increasing interest around climate change and are always working on ways to reduce our combined impact on the environment, to this end we are trying to make our holidays as sustainable as possible. We’ve built an on-site rainwater capture system, the water from this is used to flush the toilets in the tents and lodges. Then we’ve recently installed a PV (photovoltaic) system on the roof of our shower block to generate electricity to offset our usage in the bathroom and shop. The tents and lodges are lit by candles and lamps, heating is provided by locally grown timber from sustainably managed woods.
The animal paddocks will usually have some farm favourites in them including chickens. Fresh eggs can be collected from the chickens and the well-stocked honesty shop has enough supplies for most of your basic needs (and a few luxuries). The beef in the freezer generally comes from one of our own animals while the meats in the fridge come from our local farm shop in Priddy. They do a great fried breakfast there, just right to set you up for the day! We have also teamed up with Farrington’s Farm Shop in near-by Farrington Gurney, allowing guests to pre-book a range of hampers for their arrival. Farrington’s is also well worth a visit with several attractions and the cream teas are a must!
If however you are feeling like doing something more active then why not check out www.cheddarwalking.org.uk for a range of walking routes around the area, or maybe www.hoodarchery.com or http://mendip.me/. Any size group can be accommodated.
